Web Strategist

Scope of the Position
Developing the annual Web strategy for the Open Learning (OL) division, you will manage online usability and navigation, oversee the optimization of OL Web properties, translate high-level initiatives into functioning Web projects, provide council and leadership for online program managers and analysts, and assist in the planning, development and execution of marketing and communications strategies on the Web.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess 3 years’ related experience, extensive background in operating in a Web environment, and skill with Web software (WebTrends, HBX, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, Photoshop, Flash MX, HTML, XML, DHTML, Javascript). Also requires thorough understanding of Web site metrics, data and behavioral analysis, and reporting tools; familiarity with database design, data mapping and import processes; strong knowledge of organic and paid search engine positioning and strategies; extensive working knowledge of pay-per-click marketing; effective interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; strong planning and organizational skills; and a Bachelor’s in IT, Marketing or a related discipline. Experience in optimizing a Web presence for open and distance learning an asset.

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is British Columbia’s newest public university.
