Web and Media Writer (Ghost)
We have a contract position available for an exciting function in our company.
Job Summary: you’ll write, publish, and adapt our online content to increase our database of newsletter and E-zine subscribers
We are looking for a Ghost Web and Media Writer. It might actually be called something else in your world, but we’re defining it by “what we need you to do”.
Writing Style- Our writer will have proven background writing in “real English”, or common language. Whatever is written should sound like normal, natural conversation. If you are a stickler for “Chicago Style”, etc, this position is not for you. You’ll be frustrated.
As I write this, I think about the writing style of Jeffrey Gitomer. When you read his books and articles, it sounds like he is talking to you. That’s what we want.
Incidentally, You’ll be ghosting for me. Can you match this style?
Writing Demographic - Our target reader is 35 to 60 years old, with a professional background in Management. They are white-collar professionals with a 70/30 split male to female.
Where will you be publishing your work? You’ll be responsible to post it in/ as:
* E -Newsletters and E-Blasts ( which you’ll create, layout ,and write based on our direction and template) Layout includes a few pics / graphics as appropriate.
* Create and coordinate through Constant Contacts
* GOAL: Increase e-zine subscriptions through creative and traditional list building strategies
* Our Blogs - we have several blogs, where the newsletter content will be repurposed
* Our website- again repurposing our content
* Twitter / tweets
* LinkedIn, Facebook and MySpace
We will create a production and “publishing” schedule together with you for all of the above.
Word Counts and Frequency
You’ll be repurposing existing written (soft copy) documents.
You’ll be repurposing those items again for use in various social media.
The E-newsletter/ E-Zine is the basic element.
* Approx 1500 words. We need 30 newsletters.
* Repurposed content of approx 250 to 350 words
* Twitter - 2 to 3 daily updates
* Blogs - at least 1/day over 2 blogs ( net = 2/day)
* Facebook and Myspace - blog and newsletter content
As you can see, there is only “x “ amount of writing, but then repurposing for maximum benefit.
Publishing
* You will publish these items once approved
* You’ll advise on platforms or technology as needed.
* SEO and web analytics are critical considerations
We have/ You’ll have at your disposal:
* A huge amount of written content from our over 30 years of business. This can be easily edited/ repurposed for the media listed above.
o It is our intellectual property. No plagiarism concerns on your part.
* A production schedule stretching over the next 16 to 18 months. We’d like to have the majority of our content pre-written and ready to go.
* A major events calendar and themes for publishing in sync with.
* Support from our office in your efforts.
* We’ll also ask you to join us for select team conference calls so that you get a true flavor for our company and what we do. Incidentally we have over 5 years of recorded conference calls and meetings that you can access as well.
Our goal
We want to write or repurpose our content to maximize and take advantage of new media.
If the newsletter is seen as the basic element, each of the components/sections of that newsletter can be sent out in different formats at different times.
Our goal is to provide high value content to our growing list of followers/ readers.
Your skills
The ability to write well - you need to love writing and getting people engaged.
The ability to use and maximize new media / Web 2.0 opportunities. We need Keyword rich articles with relevant information.
