Sports Editor

HStreet Media is a growing Marketing Communications Company based in downtown Vancouver. Due to a new client relationship we are growing our team with the following position: Sports Editor/Content Manager (full-time)

We’re at a very exciting phase of our business and we’re thrilled to bring someone new on-board to share and contribute to our success. Working with the Internet Marketing team, you’ll help craft and execute writing and editing initiatives for our new client in the sports gaming industry.

We are looking for a bright, DETAIL-ORIENTED person with a minimum 2 years experience.

In close coordination with the Internet Marketing department this role will ensure conformity with search engine best practices as well as journalistic quality and readability.

Responsibilities:
* Identify and develop sports news stories
* Identify future sporting events and design news campaigns around them
* Write, schedule and edit web content with special emphasis on search engine effectiveness
* Coordinating and Managing writers and their schedules
* Schedule content based on events, statistics and industry flows
* Coordinate and manage viral siphoning programs; facebook, forums, youtube, del.icio.us, blogger and etc.
* Ensure text links are written to optimized for core key phrases
* Ability to provide email composition and writing for special promotions
* Ensure the writing structure and style on the site is in line with our marketing programs and our communication strategies as defined by our marketing communications group
* Working with our in-house CMS
* Monitoring shifts in search trends and patterns to ensure we are pro actively retaining new search terms for niche sports events
* Keep current with changing search engine principles and best practices
* Bring creative ideas to the tasks of generating successful and high-quality web site material

Requirements:
* In-depth knowledge of a wide range of sports
* 1-2 years writing or journalism experience
* SEO copy writing skills
* Knowledge of internal site linking
* Strong writing skills and background
* Web publishing experience
* CMS experience
* Experience within the sports industry would be a plus
* Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism/English/Communications

In order to truly succeed in this position, you must also have a desire to learn the Internet Marketing industry as well as become familiar with editing a variety of writing styles that range from sports articles to landing pages and PPC ads.
