As Online Marketing Specialist, you report to the Online Programs Manager and ensure the continuous improvement of Tourism British Columbia’s websites and the user experience. You possess great passion for the Internet and expert knowledge of what is required to create an effective website. You understand the role of user research and information architecture, and you can do both. And you know the difference between search engine optimization and search engine marketing. Your online expertise is matched by your project management skills. You like to dive into the details of the project, and your approach to team work ensures the common goal is achieved on target, on time and on budget - with the appropriate contribution from all team members.

You will collaborate with all of Tourism British Columbia’s program areas and suppliers to execute website projects with specific responsibilities for information architecture, user experience and site functionality. Your key responsibilities as the Online Marketing Specialist include:
*Understanding the principles of and providing professional input to the user experience, including information architecture and interaction design, for online programs;
*Acting as the project manager for online-related projects by using project management techniques, following business requirements, staying on time and on budget, building consensus among team members and achieving deliverables;
*Monitoring and analyzing the performance of online programs through web metrics, web trends and competitive analysis with the goal of making proactive recommendations for improvement to the Online Programs Manager;
*Collaborating with internal staff and key partners to manage the iterative development process of the websites;
*Providing internal consultancy for online activities to Tourism British Columbia’s program areas;
*Managing user feedback, in conjunction with the other distribution channels.

Your roots are in user experience, interaction design, web design, web development or communication, and you have a related undergraduate degree, diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You have a well established track record of success in website development powered by the right combination of meeting user needs and technical understanding. You have excellent communication and collaboration skills that make it easy for you to work with a range of team members, clients, stakeholders and external partners. You can manage multiple, high-demand projects in a rapidly changing environment. Professional experience in the travel or tourism industry is a plus.
