SUMMARY
Established online publisher of news and information for the sports and poker industry requires an Online Marketing Manager to lead the implementation and execution of the company’s onsite marketing strategies and tactical programs. Reporting to the General Manager, the Online Marketing Manager is responsible for all facets of “onsite” marketing, for all of the company’s websites.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for the implementation of client advertising and promotional programs on all company websites. The company has many advertising clients and a growing volume of campaigns that are changing frequently on each of our websites. You will be required to ensure the efficient implementation and management of these campaigns; including the planning and coordination of campaign development and launch requirements, quality control and performance measurement, analysis and reporting.
* Responsible for developing creative promotional advertising programs for client needs. The company aims to distinguish itself in the eyes of its clients through promotional advertising and marketing creativity. Working with our Account Management team you will be required to present creative advertising ideas as well as negotiate with clients for exclusive incentives and offers.
* Responsible for creating and coordinating editorial content schedules with website editors and writers. Much of the timely content on the company websites is in the form of news articles around major sporting and gaming events, which are written and published daily. You will be responsible for identifying and managing a comprehensive schedule of events to ensure that editorial teams are prioritizing and delivering timely content for the marketing needs of each of our websites.
* Responsible for developing and implementing strategies that increase site traffic to strategic outcomes within company websites. The company has various traffic action priorities on each of its websites, including registration in various opt-in communication lists, contest and promotions, visits to desired advertisers, etc. To succeed with your responsibility of maximizing the conversion of site traffic to desired outcomes, you will be expected to identify and coordinate the implementation of site improvement strategies involving website navigation; page structure & presentation; page content; user tools; and so forth.
* Responsible for the development, implementation and management of opt-in consumer data capture programs. The company intends to develop a comprehensive database of opt-in consumers for a variety of electronic communications. Your responsibility will be to assist in the development ,and then manage the implementation, of these data capture programs, which may include, for example, opt-in email, refer-a-friend, surveys, contests, etc.
* Be an effective team member. In this role you will work on various team-oriented projects and in varying capacities from team member to team leader. Teams include, for example, editorial content development, website development, advertising and revenue stream development, Search Engine Optimization, Search Marketing, and so forth. You will be required to work positively and productively in these various team roles.
* Miscellaneous marketing tasks. You will be responsible for a variety of other related marketing oriented tasks including ongoing market research; tracking competitive activities and offers; ensuring quality control in all deliverables; and performance analysis, measurement and reporting.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Be effective in both independent and team oriented roles.
* Good quantitative and analytical skills to determine appropriate metrics against which each promotion should be measured and experience with web analytic programs, process and reporting.
* Strong marketing communication skills, both verbal and written. Fluency in 2nd language (French, Spanish, Italian, or German) is highly desirable.
* A solid understanding of internet marketing including Content/Keyword/SEO driven strategies, social media, etc.
* Experience in site usability and success in traffic funneling and conversion.
* Ability to analyze and understand target market and develop suitable tools/promotions.
* Exceptional organizational and management skills.
* In depth knowledge of poker and/or European sports is required.
* Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to multi-task, remain detail orientated, and be deadline conscious is very important. Accountability and follow-through are crucial.
* Strong understanding of web technology and its application for marketing purposes, including html, Flash, streaming video, etc.
* Proficiency with common business and web software, including CMS, Google Analytics, Excel, Word, and so forth.
ACADEMIC /EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A diploma or degree in Business and /or Marketing is required
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time permanent employment position, working from our office in North Vancouver, BC. Standard business hours are M-F, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Periodic travel for tradeshows and industry events may be required.
