LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, is a rapidly growing, Vancouver-based retailer and manufacturer of fresh handmade cosmetics. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Online Marketing Manager who will help support and grow our online business. LUSH is an international company, operating in over 37 countries with over 400 shops worldwide. This role will report directly to the Web Operations Manager’s for Canada and US. The lucky candidate will also work closely with the Retail Marketing Manager and the PR departments for both Canada and the USA.

The successful candidate must embrace and reflect the culture of LUSH which is based on a passion for the concept, a love of the product and an appreciation for the mission of the brand. This individual will be able to learn quickly what drives the LUSH culture, and be effective in championing that throughout the organization. It is expected that the Online Marketing Manager will be passionate, entrepreneurial, innovative and capable of pro-actively leading development and implementation of effective online marketing strategies to achieve sales and branding objectives.

As the heart of LUSH lies in marketing this lifestyle concept, the successful candidate must have the leadership skills necessary to drive a compelling customer experience within an efficient and profitable retail operation. Additionally, this candidate will be flexible and creative toward solving business issues that reflect the LUSH culture of continually searching for improvement in customer service excellence and brand awareness.

More specifically, they will possess competencies in the following areas:

Online Marketing Strategy & Development

* Pro-actively lead development and implementation of effective online marketing strategies to achieve sales and branding objectives with an emphasis on increasing web traffic and conversions for the US and Canadian online markets.
* Collaborate with NA Retail Directors and Retail Marketing Manager to identify synergies and ensure strategy is on brand and consistent among all channels and markets
* Collaborate with NA Public Relations team to ensure consistent communications and brand messaging
* Champion interdepartmental communications for marketing and branding strategies Collaborate with LUSH Manufacturing and LUSH Retail on product mix, pricing strategies and roll-out implementation
* Identify and develop online brand and sales building partnerships
* Maintain competitive and industry awareness, report relevant findings

Online Marketing Management
* Own all aspects of Online North American marketing plan development and execution
* Develop and implement annual online Marketing operating budgets, monitoring results and instituting strategies to maximize sales, build online traffic, foster sales conversion, and achieve profit objectives.
* Manage planning and implementation of online promotional campaigns and special events for US and Canadian online markets
* Create website content and coordinate updates (products, pricing, promotions, features, etc.).
* Coordinate implementation of online marketing promotions, contests, special events, viral campaigns, etc…
* Oversee Day-to-day management of partner relationships, affiliate programs and shopping portals such as Amazon and Commission Junction.
* Media planning, buying and creative development (online and traditional).
* Optimize Adwords and other paid search programs.
* Coordinate organic SEO plan for our online properties.
* Coordinate creation and implementation of creative elements, working with the in-house Graphics and web teams.
* Coordinate email and direct mail newsletter delivery
* Collaborate with PR teams to ensure that PR efforts effectively leverage LUSH’s online presence.
* Collaborate with Retail teams to help support local and regional sales goals and build customer traffic for Retail Stores through online awareness programs. Ensure online promotional campaigns are consistent with LUSH brand and support sales and traffic building objectives
* Identify individual online campaign goals and establish metrics for success. Report and analyze campaign and Web site metrics and develop best practices Supervise media buying as appropriate
* Contribute to development and circulation of LUSH Times catalog

* A strong understanding of online Brand Image and Management and a strong sense and sensibility to online/merchandising brand and product complexities.

Qualifications, Skills
* Experience in supervising direct reports
* At least 4 years experience in online marketing, having held similar positions with an emphasis on e-commerce and multi-channel retail.
* Familiarity with US and Canadian markets
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to speak French a definite asset
* Open-minded, creative strategic thinker, able to lead cross-functional teams
* Exceptional organizational and project management skills including the ability to track and report campaign results
* Creative problem-solver with a passion for innovation. Able to develop exciting, attention-getting promotions and events
* Flexibility to handle shifting priorities and tight timelines. Comfortable with ambiguity and defining own role in a developing organization
* Computer skills required: High level of proficiency with the Internet and MS Office (particularly EXCEL), demonstrated proficiency with Web based applications, knowledge of Web analytics software tools.
* Ability to legally work in Canada

Education and Experience
* University or College diploma in online marketing or related area of study
* 4+ years online marketing management experience with specific knowledge of online marketing concepts including search-engine marketing, campaign executions, and email marketing is essential
* Experience with an ethics based and cosmetics brand is an asset and preferred
* Experience in a multi-channel retail environment (Retail and Direct Sales)
