Qualifications and experience for job:
* Post secondary education, or a combination of education and work-related experience.
* One to two years of progressive work-related experience in marketing, advertising, and/or hotel industry experience.
* Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing marketing projects from conception through implementation and evaluation. Ability to develop and present data-driven recommendations successfully, to promote services and products persuasively, and to shape the opinions of others.
* Demonstrated knowledge of marketing principles and concepts, as well as creative problem solving ability and demonstrated creative thinking skills as evidenced by prior campaigns.
* Must be highly creative and possess strong knowledge of financial statements to stay on budget and deliver results at the same time.
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and editorial skills in English required.
* Communication skills also in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence industry professionals and/or private clients.
* Hospitality marketing experience highly desired.
* Requires thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of catering, food and beverage, menu development and pricing and event planning.
* Requires knowledge of ICC policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.

Function and purpose of job:
* To effectively solicit new business, generating sales by networking, attending industry functions, trade shows and making sales calls to prospective clients.
* To plan, coordinate, and execute marketing activities for the Italian Cultural Centre.

Principal duties and responsibilities:
* Will play a crucial role in developing and implementing action plans to ensure achievement of pre-established revenue goals;
* Will be responsible for the development and creation of marketing collateral;
* Will be responsible for the placement of media scheduled initiatives and all print, radio/TV, electronic marketing initiatives as agreed and budgeted;
* Will be responsible for creation and development of online marketing/advertising initiatives, which may include but is not limited to: creating email lists and promotion schedules, banners, images, web channels, branding, search engine marketing and optimization (SEO - SEM) and building online partnerships and sponsorships.
* Solicit and book new and repeat business through efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc.) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals and guidelines.
* Develop and execute marketing strategy to capture the maximum amount of revenue to meet and ideally exceed sales goals.
* Plan, detail and possibly up sell the meeting/function with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations, etc. Complete the contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, including banquet event orders, coordinate the appropriate areas in the venue, resolve any issues, complaints and problems to ensure a quality product delivery and customer satisfaction. (Training in these areas and others and on-going consultation and collaboration will be provided by the Catering Manager)
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICC policy and products including their strengths and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and achieve goals.
* Conduct professional and positive communication to both guests and fellow employees.
* Must have a proven track record of results-oriented sales and marketing experience.
* Attend functions that have resulted from sales efforts made by the marketing and sales agent.
* Carry out post-event follow-up.

Other:
* Knowledge of Italian language an asset.
* Local candidates preferred.
* Local travel required. Ownership of vehicle and ability to drive required for sales calls.

Salary range:
* $30,000-40,000 plus commission.
