Manager, Website Strategy and Information Management
BC Centre for Disease Control
This is a newly created dynamic role with a mandate to implement online objectives, ensure that BCCDC websites support strategic directions, and manage the implementation of on-line communications and information management goals. In collaboration with PHSA Web Strategies and PHSA Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT), you will be the first point of contact for leaders and managers seeking to create new website features and/or enhance existing website communications and strategy, as well as Agency information management initiatives. With BCCDC in the process of creating a new external website and revamping its internal website, this role demands your assessment and evaluation of external and internal stakeholder and user needs, as well as the dissemination of web and IT requirements and issues across the relevant technical teams. You are also responsible for training and on-going coaching and guidance of Agency web authors and editors, as well as Agency information management focal points.
You ideally have a degree in web-based communications and information management, plus five to seven years’ recent related experience, or the equivalent. Your proven track record in developing, launching and implementing successful websites and information management projects is complemented by leadership experience in managing committees and teams by facilitating consensus for a shared vision and outcomes. This role is ideally suited to a motivator and mentor who can educate colleagues and share knowledge effectively. Your strong writing and editing skills, expertise with web-based communications structures, and strategic understanding of how digital mediums can be used to complement and extend traditional communications channels, are all critical to your success in this role. Familiarity with models of website and information management governance, and their implementation and maintenance in a complex organizational environment is required together with experience using Content Management Systems, web analytics tools, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Web 2.0 tools. Our ideal candidate will have familiarity with, or a background in, public health with a mix of experience in the public and private sectors.
The deadline for applications is March 17th, 2008
