Account Manager - Job Description

The role of the Account Manager will encompass a number of functions. The main responsibility will be the actual day to day account management of the key accounts. This will be a ‘hands on’ role with dedicated time being spent on all accounts daily. Other responsibilities are to build new business from accounts that we continue to sell to and create new incremental business from scratch. Often the sales cycle is from 6-9 months in length and takes much attention to detail across a number of departments within the customer and internally at PNI. The role demands positive approach to working with other team members and virtual team members who will be part of client specific teams. Though there are project managers and developers to deliver our solutions the Sales role is where the responsibility to the customer lies.

The candidate will have a mature outlook, must be self-motivated, responsible, able to meet deadlines, enjoy working alone or with 3rd parties on customer sites, in pressure situations. You must have a driving licence and be flexible to travel within Canada and the US.

Scope of Role and Responsibilities
* account management - from store to H/O level; understanding retail sales is essential
* Daily liaison with all key accounts at all levels; Photo/IT/Marketing/Training
* Developing new business - understanding the retailers needs and tailoring the sale accordingly
* Selling within existing accounts - recognizing the retailers needs and building the solution
* Strong sales management skills
* Internal liaison with Project Managers and Developers
* Writing detailed internal documentation - commercial requirements for new sales/projects
* Building and managing relationships with key suppliers
* Maintaining sales forecast -
o Analyze sales data and make recommendations
* Industry and Competitor Benchmarking
* Identify and make New Product and Service Recommendations
* Own & develop product & feature roadmap
* Central co-ordination and contact point between PNI (UK & Vancouver offices) & retailer
* Input to Online Promo planning
* Assist retailer Mktg Mgr and co-ordinate Trade Plan
* Analyze Web Analytics and make recommendations for site improvements
* Track performance Vs Forecast & KPI objectives
* Manage/Develop Online Marketing Plan - CRM recommendations
* Strong understanding of SEO/PPC

Reporting Line

Reporting directly to VP Sales to achieve overall Company targets and goals.
There are no reporting lines into Account Manager. The Sales and Operations team consists of:
* 1 UK based account manager
* 1 Sales & Marketing Coordinator
* 2 CA based account managers

Profile and Competency Set

* A good educational background.
* 3-5 yrs sales experience selling into Retail,
* Understanding of dot com marketing - specifically SEO/CRM/PPC
* Understanding of technical selling - though not necessarily a technical background.
* Confident and skilled in handling customers especially in potentially stressful periods.
* Experience of working with a broad remit to deliver against goals.
* Not a necessity but experience in Software and or Photo industry will be an advantage.
* Excellent communication skills, both with the technical team and with Customers.
* Effective prioritization and management of tasks and workload, delivering to timescales set.
