Our client, a global user community organization headquartered in Burnaby, BC is looking for a IT/Web Manager with 4+ years experience with web applications and technologies such as ASP.NET, VB.NET or C#, JavaScript, DotNetNuke framework and Microsoft SQL Server. The successful applicant will also support unique membership management and security needs, help implement and maintain the website as well as the technology infrastructure. Experience working with hosting providers for deploying websites is desired.
As the sole full-time IT/Web Manager, you would be part of a very dynamic team of individuals that manage the largest and most prominent global user community for SQL Server. Along with website management you will also be responsible for supporting the IT needs of the management team and will also lead the training initiatives to bring the team up to speed on how to use the new IT infrastructure. Responsibilities:

BC Youth Week 2009
Youth Week is an international celebration of youth held annually during the first week of May. It is a week of fun, interaction and celebration intended to build a strong connection between young people and their communities. Youth Week profiles the issues, accomplishments and diversity of youth across the province. Wherever Youth Week is celebrated, the idea behind it is the same: Young people are important and need to be recognized in a constructive and positive manner!
Youth work practitioners from across Metro Vancouver have established some useful marketing tools that assist in the branding of Youth Week celebrations across the province. As a result, the critical pieces of this work have been consolidated into a contract requiring the services of a Communications and Marketing Consultant.
Nature and Scope of Work
This is a communications and marketing initiative geared towards the promotion of Youth Week 2009 primarily across Metro Vancouver and to other participating communities across he province. Administered through the Abbotsford Youth Commission, the consultant will design and implement a communications strategy in addition to the design and delivery of appropriate marketing tools.
Communication
- Develop and implement a communications strategy that enables a flow of information relevant to Youth Week 2009 for the public and BC Youth Week members.
- Gather relevant information for the promotion and communication of Youth Week 2009 activities from partner municipalities.
- Receives and responds to youth week inquiries
- Communicates with the media as required
- Issues press releases
Marketing
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy to promote Regional Youth Week activities.
- To attend and lead Youth Week 2009 kick off party.
- Create promotional media for Youth Week 2009 through TV media and major news source.
- Design artwork, as required, for use in all promotional materials.
- Design functional, time sensitive web content that serves as the main hub of information and promotion of Youth Week 2009 (bcyouthweek.com)
- To develop and maintain Youth Week 2009 website, other internet pages.
- Produce camera-ready artwork to committee for print materials and merchandising requirements.
- Investigate other new media formats to target the 13-18 yr demographic.
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Education and experience in communications, marketing or media relations.
- Ability to communicate with and relate to a diverse constituency of adults, organizations and youth.
- Experience and competency with creating artwork in digital format, across print and other multi-media platforms.

Administration
- Prepares status reports and attend all regularly scheduled Regional Youth Week meetings (approx. 4)
- Prepares, synthesizes and disseminates time sensitive information at regional meetings or via e-mail.
- Works within and manages an operating budget assigned to this project
- This project is supervised by a Project Manager, under advisement from members of the Youth Week Regional group.
- Compiles a completed project report and recommendations for Youth Week 2009
- All work completed remains the property of the Regional Youth Week group.
Compensation and Hours of Work
This contract is compensated at an amount not greater than $2,750. The hours of work required and scheduling of hours, to complete the tasks listed above, will be set by both the consultant and employer. Preliminary work required for this project commences in January 2009 with completion May 31st, 2009.
Workstation
The consultant is expected to provide their own standard business workspace, (e-mail, workstation, phone, fax) computer and software to meet the design and communication needs of this project.
