Why adding a job board to your website could both increase revenue and help the economy

Ah ah grin A lot of people did not quite understood when I created my job section on eMarketing 101. Monique from Boxcar Marketing sent me an article today that talks about the importance of creating a job board for your site. It is easy to do, takes little maintenance and drive a lot of traffic. What’s not to like?

Here is some of it:
Just because the economy isn’t doing so hot right now, doesn’t mean that every business is doomed to fail. But what it does mean is that we as publishers could really use a good brainstorm on how to build out our own business model in ways that are more profitable than costly.

One avenue that has been consistently popular with publishers is adding a job board to their website network. In general, websites that sell job listings are self-service and require very little maintenance from the publisher.

  5. A clear hint that we’re not doing enough to round up jobs is the Purple People Collective. The PPC was started by Ryan Kuder and Jonathan Tarud of Yahoo!. When Kuder got laid off from Yahoo! in February of last year, he had a hard time finding organized job listings from the various social media sites he visited.

  17. 1) Target the right keywords. Target the wrong keyword phrases and your online business is destined to fail.

    2) Don’t use keywords or phrases that are too broad. The competition is too fierce, and research has shown that though you will get more traffic through general phrases, that traffic doesn’t convert to sales. All of the traffic in the world will do you no good if it doesn’t convert to sales!

    3) Optimize your page content. Target each Web page to a different and highly focused keyword phrase. In other words, your main page should be optimized for one keyword phrase. Are the keywords used relative to the site’s overall content? Do you use too many keywords, or too few?
