Web on Media Job Posting - Not a Real Company

A few days ago, I post a job on the job blog about this company called Web On Media. Yesterday I got 2 messages about this company and people were asking me to remove the post because of the fraudulent nature of the job positing and the underlying relationships. Because I want to make sure everyone knows about this company, I added some info to the job post, which does not seem to be enough. I am posting today new and more exhaustive information about this company and their so-called Internship position which has been posted in Vancouver recently. Hello, I live in Minnesota, I too have been scammed by this Web on Media “company.” Fortunately, I’ve been in the game long enough to know a scam when it comes my way so I was able to steer clear of this scam with my time being my only loss. I saw an Ad on Craigslist that they had put for a “summer internship” position in web design for $20/hour. I checked out their website and it looked legit so I sent them a few paragraphs detailing my background and attached my resume. 2 days later I received an e-mail from them saying that I had passed the initial pre-selection and had moved on to the 2nd and final stage of the recruitment process.

Turns out that the final stage of the process entails signing up for the Intuit web design program to build a sample website and send it to them(which right there threw up red flags for me since what company would ask you to pay for software in order to fulfill their recruitment process, that and any monkey can build a website with Intuit, it’s designed to allow people that know nothing about web design to make websites).

On top of that they also wanted me to sign up for a telephone forwarding service and justified it by saying “as part of your internship you will have to make phone calls with clients and you will need a business phone.”

At this point I already knew it was a scam but I decided to respond to their e-mail anyway telling them that I was not interested in spending any money or signing up for any “free trials” in order to move forward with the recruitment process. That was 5 days ago, haven’t heard back from them since.

   Just wanted to take a minute to send you an update about the Web On Media situation. Shortly after you posted your second blog about Web On Media their website became unavailable. It was exposed through Yahoo Answers that they had purchased the website template they were using for their company for $20 and it had only been registered since March of this year. This can be seen here:

   Since then other blogs have continued to post of their scams and even a post on Craigslist

4. Such type of company person should never be left untied outside in society.  I really spit on such company people and that company!!!

5. This type of companies are not eligible for posting job positions,it should be banned from this type of activities.
