SEO Tools: Spy on your Competitors’ Traffic using Spyfu.com

It is summer time and everybody is on vacation (or almost). Here is something that will chill your competitors. A few weeks ago, I was browsing around in You-Tube and I found this SEO tool video which presents a very helpful Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tool that can help you spy on your competitors and get a better idea of their traffic level and daily Search Marketing (PPC) budget.

Because understanding your competitors’ traffic, keywords and Pay Per Click (PPC) budget has always been key to benchmark your own Search Marketing successes & goals against your competitors, any tool that can help get the job done is welcome. As such, take a minute to check this video on how to use Spyfu:

Comments

  1. Interesting, though I just tried searching on one of my client’s URLs, and the information it returned wasn’t even remotely accurate. Like, the daily ad buy was off by 500% and the average ad position was way off.

Still, I do like the other keywords and related terms and so
    forth. That would be useful.

  2. You are completely right. I tried it too with current clients and past projects where I knew the PPC budget & positions and the results from Spyfu were about 10% of the actual figures (in terms of daily budget). Despite that, and much like the accuracy with Alexa ranking for instance, it does give an idea. The more SEO tools you use on that regard as you look at competitors from every possible angle, the closer to reality you can get.

  3. How about using KeywordSpy? - This will give you an opportunity to immediately track down your competitors and gather keywords for the promotional campaign of your online business. It offers Free trials.

KeywordSpy is keyword research technology where you can also earn and even surpass what your competitors are making with Google Adwords and Overture. KeywordSpy gives you the key to their success: a good ad-campaign with the right keywords.

It also has a ClickBank Affiliates Search Engine where you can see the actual market landscape at ClickBank.

  5. Can also give Keywordspy a try. KeywordSpy.com is a Keyword Research Tool that helps identify what keywords competitors use, with results actually reflecting what advertisers are using at the current time. - http://www.keywordspy.com

  6. Spyfu.com really helped me get some laugh. I was in a tight competition with a friend regarding our sites. Lately he has given me some traffic numbers that really scared me. I used spyfu to see if he was telling the truth. Not even close, I can win this one with my eyes shut.

  7. Search Engines are known to penalize websites that contain Duplicate / Similar content. Your content could be similar to other websites on the Internet, or pages from within your own website could be similar to each other. This tool allows you to determine the percentage of similarity between two pages

  8. One way link is a term used among webmasters for link building methods. It is a hyperlink that points to a website without any reciprocal link; thus the link goes “one way” in direction. It is suspected by many industry consultants that this type of link would be considered more natural in the eyes of search engines.

  14. I believe this aspect is growing everywhere as business owners learn what it is. For example, Phoenix is much more sophisticated in this regards than here in Tucson. I average small business owner is still way behind in their understanding such incidents.
